Ambedkar House offers specialist supported housing for teenage mothers and their babies.
Located in North Greenwich, the scheme consists of five self-contained flats with communal lounges, gardens and an office to enable customers to access advice and support from the staff.
Customers can get support around a range of different areas to help them become as independent as possible. The support includes:
- Maintaining an independent tenancy
- Linking in with healthcare services / children centres
- Parenting skills
- Budgeting and managing money and benefits
- Increasing social and living skills and broadening support networks
- Links into education, training and work opportunities
- Increase in self esteem
- Better use of recreation time
Every customer has a support plan that reflects your support needs and aspirations. Support workers regularly review your plan with you to make sure that it still reflects your needs.
Support staff are based on-site office (ground floor-flat 1) 9am-8pm Mon-Fri and 10- 5pm Sat and bank holidays
Night wardens provide weekend night cover (Fri/Sat) between 10pm-8am and also one night of the week (varied).
Referrals are received through our referral gateway, 1st Base Housing. They can be contacted on 020 8921 8825 Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm.
All referrals need to be submitted with a Young Person Assessment and Risk Assessment completed. If we receive a referral from the Incomes Team, we will need to complete our own assessment of the young person’s needs.
