Congratulations to Shanae Boorman-Leech, floating support caseworker from Essex who has been awarded a Gold Star in the March WOW awards.

The WOW! Awards are the UK’s only national awards that recognise excellent customer service based purely on customer and colleague nominations.

Shanae was nominated by two of her customers for supporting them both through some really difficult issues they were experiencing.

Her first nomination came from David. David had been having a lot of problems with money and feeling very low but Shanae helped him work his way through everything.

Shanae helped me get out of a lot of debt and helped me to feel better within myself. I don’t know what I would have done without her.

Previously I tried to commit suicide but now I am beginning to see a light at the end of my tunnel. She also helped me to make a claim for benefit to increase my income and also to get grab rails within my home, making life easier.’

Her second nomination came from Michael who was feeling like everyone else had closed the doors on him when he asked for help; ‘If it wasn’t for Shanae, I’d still be sitting on the floor sleeping on a camp bed and eating out of packet food as I didn’t have anything to cook on.

Shanae has gone out of her way to make sure I had the basic things for my flat. She helps me fill out all the right forms to help me get the thing I should have and goes out of her way to make me feel like I am someone and not just another customer.

Shanae has done more for me than anyone has done, no words can tell you how I feel. She’s done so much and beyond what is called of her to do. Thank you Shanae for your hard work.

Often we can forget the impact our services can have on customers but this honour really goes to show how important our support services are.

It’s a real testament to her hard work that Shanae has been nominated by two of her customers. Not only did she received multiple nominations this month but she was also a certificate winner for multiple nominations last month.

Well done Shanae, another worthy winner!
