Last year, after the huge success of the Family Mosaic Health and Wellbeing Festivals, the clients in West Sussex asked if this event could happen every year. So, when the opportunity came to celebrate Older People’s Day the Here to Help focus group decided to hold a mini festival using some of the fantastic ideas that had been successfully used before.
The Here to Help service provides a visiting support service to older people through West Sussex, offering support around housing, health, money and healthy lifestyle information.
The event, at Middleton Sports and Social Club, Middleton-on-Sea, attracted 100 customers and we were lucky enough to have beautiful weather for the event.
A vintage tea was served and old time music was played in the background, which the clients took full advantage of on the dance floor.
There were seating exercises, plant potting, flower arranging, a woodwork display and free books. The art stall also provided advice and a demonstration on how to get started with a creative project.
Guess the weight of the cake and the tombola were also very popular as was the makeover stall including nails and hair which could be followed by a relaxing Reiki session.
There were also lots of freebies during the day, including fresh fruit, to encourage our healthy eating campaign.
Everyone enjoyed themselves and a lovely day was had by all. You can see more pictures from the event here.
A big thank you to everyone that made this happen.
