Ivydale Road is a short term supported housing scheme providing specialist support to people with learning disabilities in the London Borough of Southwark.
The scheme has individual rooms with shared facilities. There are two large kitchens with dining rooms, shared bathrooms, two lounges and a games room along with a garden and specialist support staff on site 24 hours a day.
The support provided is driven by customers with a tri-part contract in place: the local authority, Family Mosaic and the customer.
Each customer creates a weekly schedule (also called an Individual Service Fund) based on what they want to achieve and who they want to support them with this. Customers also choose the time and day they wish their support to fall on. The support provided varies, from supporting you to go shopping and pay bills to going out to socialise. The ultimate goal of the service is to empower customers by learning new skills and achieving greater independence.
Whilst the support is very much driven by our customers, the service also covers areas such as:
- Maintaining your mental and physical health
- Maintaining a tenancy and moving into independent accommodation
- Maximising income and budgeting
- Increasing support networks
- Links in to work or training
- Self-esteem and confidence
- Coping mechanisms
- Practical and emotional support
- Linking in with the local community
Our main aim is to make sure that customers at the scheme develop skills to live a independently as possible in the local community.
