Customers from Southampton joined the Learning Disabilities New Forest service to celebrate the start of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend with a Picnic in the Park.

Plans came together over several months, many ideas were bounced around and once everything was planned all the volunteers were given jobs to do to help the day run smoothly.

Thankfully the winds and rain held off long enough to unload cars and safely pitch the gazebo, decked out in royal bunting. Red, white and blue tablecloths covered the cake stall, with cake stands assembled to hold dozens of cakes made by the Southampton Disabilities team.

Elsewhere, volunteers looked after the popular lucky-dip and garden enthusiasts were drawn to the plant stall.

The sun tried its best to shine through the cloud and everyone enjoyed a picnic and a look round the stalls before the Mayor arrived to enjoy the event.

All in all, it was a very successful day along with raising extra money for the social fund to put towards future events.
