Peabody supports the Starts at Home campaign
The National Housing Federation recently launched the Starts at Home campaign which aims to ensure that people who need extra support will always have a home that meets their needs.
In practice the campaign is about recognising the valuable place that supported housing plays in the lives of vulnerable people who need extra help to live independently.
Supported housing provides people who may have no-where else to go a safe, secure and supportive environment where they can learn or re-learn the skills they need to move on into their own accommodation in the future. Trained staff are on hand to provide support around a range of different issues which could include housing, health, money, self-confidence and getting in to work or training.
Peabody provides supported housing schemes across all our areas of operation and for a wide range of customers; young people leaving care, people with mental health issues, older people, people with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and other complex needs.
Without these schemes, hundreds of people would be facing an uncertain future, especially with the Government’s review of how supported housing is funded.
